In plain terms
By Envelope does not have user accounts, does not run analytics, and does not operate any server that receives your financial information. Your budget and retirement data are created and stored on your Apple devices. If you enable iCloud sync, that data is synchronized through your own private iCloud account, governed by Apple's privacy terms — not ours.
What we collect
Nothing about you, personally. By Envelope contains no analytics framework, no advertising identifier, and no crash-reporting service that transmits your data to us. We do not build profiles, and we have nothing to sell to data brokers.

On-device data
Your budget, categories, and retirement profile are stored locally using Apple's on-device storage. Removing the app removes that data from the device. Because there's no server-side copy held by us, you are always in control of what exists and where.
iCloud sync
Sync is optional and off until you choose it. When enabled, By Envelope uses Apple's CloudKit to keep your data consistent across devices signed into your Apple Account. This data resides in your private iCloud database. We have no access to it, cannot read it, and cannot recover it on your behalf. Disabling iCloud for the app, or signing out of iCloud, stops syncing.
Third parties
By Envelope does not embed third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. The only external party involved is Apple, when you choose to use iCloud sync or purchase the app on the App Store, each governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
Children
By Envelope is a general-audience budgeting tool and is not directed at children. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we collect none from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted clearly. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
